Jesse Bruer

Director Marketing and Partnerships

Jesse Bruer is the Marketing Associate for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association where he works with Chicago’s communities, international diplomats and CSOA Affinity groups on audience development growth continuing the mission of the CSO to be an orchestra for Chicago. In the Spring of 2022, Jesse graduated from the University of Michigan having completed double Master of Music degrees in Clarinet Performance and Chamber Music under the musical direction of Chad Burrow, Dan Gilbert and William King. During his studies at Michigan, Jesse published the book review of Elite Art Worlds: Philanthropy, Latin Americanism, and Avant-Garde Music, by Eduardo Herrera, where he discussed the highlights of incorporating the book into arts management curriculum to map a larger historical context in arts philanthropy.

During his undergraduate studies at DePaul University, Jesse achieved a Bachelor of Music Degree in Clarinet Performance and Performing Arts Management with a minor in Business Administration. He studied with Wagner Campos, Julie DeRoche and participated in master classes with Larry Combs, Steve Williamson, Sean Osborne and Kenneth Grant. During the summer of 2021, Jesse worked at the Grant Park Music Festival in the production department as an Artistic Assistant under the administration of Chris Collins and Paul Winberg, CEO.

In May of 2022, Jesse participated on a musicology project and tour to bring to life, for the first time since WWII, music that was arranged and performed by Auschwitz I Men’s Orchestra, a project. In 2019 Jesse won DePaul University’s Concerto Competition and received Honorable Mention for his previous entries in ‘17 and ‘18. Jesse was a student musician for DePaul University’s “Unveiled” concerts that included collaborations with Itzhak Perlman, Evelyn Glennie and composer John Corigliano. Jesse has been a part of several United States and World Premier composition performances through DePaul’s 20+ contemporary ensemble.

In his free time, Jesse enjoys sitting on the board of his local garden committee, volleyball, reading comedian memoirs and watching classic TV sitcoms.
